My internship at Duran Lantink started a month before Paris Fashion Week. I quickly got accustomed to the fast pace and high stress level of this preparation period. My main tasks were executing the designs, including cutting, sewing, adjusting the pattern and fitting them during fitting sessions.
Draping, prototyping, adjusting and finishing the skirt from start to end.
I was mainly responsible for everything with stripes. I worked a lot with jersey material and matching the stripes exactly to each other.
After PFW, we got some orders like this denim-horn-skirt. I am very proud of this piece, since it became my responsibility to refine the workflow and the construction for the skirt. I ended up supervising the production of 3 more skirts.
The process expanded my knowledge towards material and technique far beyond fabrics. Bending metal, shaping foam and covering the whole thing in denim with hand stitches took quite some time, but I ended up really satisfied with the results.
