COLLECTIONS is a specialisation that I absloved in my 3rd year. In this module, the student has to deliver a collection of 3 outfits and a Line-Plan based on the concept. Additionally, the students had to research a predetermined designer, in this case Vivienne Westwood
Mrs. Westwoods way of communicating throughout print and heritage within garments was the narrative inspiration and the driving force behind the stroy of this project.
My Collection is titled "DUšA" and emerges from the fusions of my early memories, the tales of my relatives, and the layered history of my homeland, Bosnia and Hercegovina.
The Collection is taking place in 3 time periods. PRE-War, MID-War, POST-War. An invite into the history of an underrepresented culture.
PRE-WAR
MID-WAR
POST-WAR
This cotton knit sweater is double layered and has two different prints. On top is a song lyric from a piece called "Bosanac" by Enes Begovic, which came out one year before the war in Bosnia started. Underneath is a blurred out MTV Logo, as my mother told me they would consume western media even during the war.

Josip "Broz" Tito (7 May 1892 – 4 May 1980), former president of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

The pattern pieces for this skirt are cut in the shape of former Yugoslavia. The pattern is cut twice, once from wool and once from the same knit as the sweater. The pieces are then shifted, and the top edge is flipped to achieve a straight line for the waistband and a multi layer look all around the skirt.

This Bomber Jacket is as well part of the MID-War Look and is made out of all the fabric scraps that were left after I was done cutting the pattern for the other garments.
"Bosanac" : Bosnian term describing bosnian person.
Reversible Vest with invisible magnetic closure, made out of black wool and a cotton table cover from the print room. The stained piece of fabric, which was used to protect the tables served as a complementing element in the story behind this look and works with the skirt. There was no paint or print added to the fabric piece.
As part of the MID-War Look the Skirt consists out of solid boxpleats with a black outer layer and a selfmade camouflage in blue and yellow made out of fig leafs.
Print development for a fig leaf camouflage, using two different settings for diffusion-dither in Photoshop and placing them on top of each other. The pleats were printed twice with the camo strip, once in yellow and once more in blue with the motif upside down.
The shirt is inspired by a traditional bosnian shirt that is worn on special occasions. It is made out of a drapey fabric similar to linen in texture, with embroidered marks in blue, yellow and red.

My grandpa in traditional Bosnian garments.

Him and this picture were a major inspiration for the collection and especially for the 3rd Look.

Dayton Agreement 1995
The Bosnian War, a brutal conflict that tore through the heart of Europe in the 1990s, began with the breakup of Yugoslavia. As ethnic tensions escalated, Bosnia and Herzegovina declared independence in 1992, triggering a devastating war. The conflict witnessed widespread ethnic cleansing, siege warfare, and atrocities. International efforts, including UN peacekeeping missions, struggled to halt the bloodshed. However, it was the Dayton Agreement in November 1995 that finally brought an end to the violence. Negotiated in Dayton, Ohio, the agreement was brokered by the United States and signed by the warring factions, outlining a framework for peace, territorial integrity, and the establishment of a complex political structure to govern post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina.
